OVERVIEW

The Pirelli Scorpion Winter Run Flat (*) is a performance, winter tire made for SUVs. This specific tire is marked with (*) as it is the original equipment of BMW vehicles.

The optimized tread elements and the winter compound improve the tire's winter weather traction. In this manner, the directional tread pattern manages to firmly grip the road surface with extra biting edges, even in harsh winter weather. At the same time, the winter compound keeps the rubber flexible in freezing temperatures. As a result, these elements enable the tire to easily perform even on ice- and snow-covered roads. Hydroplaning resistance is guaranteed with this tire. The circumferentila grooves effectively eliminate water and slush from the footprint in wet situations.

The model offers great controllability and maneuvering. The optimized tread elements with the large tread blocks and special siping details maintain close road contact at all times. It improves the tire's steering responsiveness and driving stability. In other words, the steering response time is faster and more accurate to the driver's commands, while the structure is secured against the driving pressure affecting it. Also, the wide shoulder blocks and the siping details boost the tire's cornering and braking during the performance.

This tire is manufactured with a run flat technology. The strengthened internal structure enables the tire to withstand the vehicle's and its passengers' weight in case of air pressure loss. The tire can be driven for 50 miles, up to 50mph. This protects the vehicles from being stranded on the side of the road. Also, this allows the tire to be driven to a nearby location where the tire can be changed or fixed. This technology significantly improves the tire's driving surface levels. Run flat tires should not be mounted on the same vehicle together with regular tires.

The Pirelli Scorpion Winter Run Flat (*) promotes a quiet and comfortable driving experience. The directional tread pattern and its close road contact reduce the road and tread noise levels heard in the vehicle's cabin. This footprint channels airwaves away preventing them from coming into contact with the tread elements and generating noise. This ensures the tire's quiet performance and upgrades the passengers driving enjoyment.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
