OVERVIEW
The Pirelli Scorpion Winter (MO) is a performance and high performance, winter tire manufactured for SUVs and passenger vehicles. This model has some touring sizes too.
The tire was made to be mounted on select Mercedes-Benz models. It has received the 'MO' rating, which means that the tire was made to be mounted on these vehicles as the original equipment model. The tire promotes excellent performing ability, high driving safety levels and great fuel efficiency. The combination of these three elements is what allows the model to pass the rigorous performance tests given by Mercedes-Benz to receive this rating.
The model has great winter weather traction with the tread pattern's siping detail and the special winter weather tire compound. This combination ensures excellent road gripping ability even on ice- and snow-covered roads. The circumferential tread grooves prevent hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from below the tire footprint. The better traction and hydroplaning resistance ensure more secure winter driving.
The tire's remarkable fuel efficiency is the result of the decreased rolling resistance. This is the power that affects the tires and determines how much energy the vehicle needs to maintains the tire's motion. The reduced rolling resistance ensures lowered fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on part of the vehicle, making the tire more environmentally friendly and fuel conscious.
The directional symmetric tread pattern's modular block geometry and sipe layout improve the driving safety with the boosted braking and cornering ability. The massive shoulder tread blocks enhance the cornering and maneuvering power with the additional biting edges they provide. The upgraded road contact promotes a shorter braking distance by creating friction at the moment of braking. The increased cornering and braking abilities advance the tire's handling and controllability.
The Scorpion Winter (MO)'s great steering responsiveness and accuracy and the driving stability are due to the maintained road contact, which is ensured by the new mold profile and special tread elements that enhance the braking and cornering ability as well. As a result, the steering is more precise and responsive to the driver's commands and the model is stabilized against the driving pressure. This ensures a quicker responsiveness when controlling the tire and it maintains the its optimal tire shape at all times.
Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
