OVERVIEW

The General Altimax RT45 is a touring, all season tire made for passenger vehicles and SUVs. General offers a 75,000 mile tread wear warranty with the H and T speed-rated sizes, and a 65,000 mile treadwear warranty with the V speed-rated sizes of this model.

Excellent performance is promoted with this tread design and all season compound. These elements work together to improve dry, wet, and winter-weather traction. In other words, this tread pattern can follow the road surface in all weather conditions, while the all season compound keeps the rubber flexible in warm and cold temperatures. On the other hand, large circumferential grooves prevent hydroplaning, by eliminating water and slush from the footprint in wet situations.

The model also upgrades controllability. The asymmetric tread design manages to maintain close road contact at all times. This close contact improves steering responsiveness and driving stability. The steering response time becomes faster and more accurate to the driver's commands, while the structure is secured against driving pressure. At the same time, large shoulder blocks strongly grip the road surface with enhanced cornering. The siping detail shortens the braking distance, by creating friction at the moment of braking. This combination allows the driver to have full control over the vehicle.

The asymmetric tread design and the close road contact evenly distribute driving pressure along the tread area, while the wear-resistant compound decreases the treadwear rate as well. These elements prevent irregular and premature wear formations along the tread area, which guarantees the tire's lengthened service life and usability.

The General Altimax RT45 also promotes a quiet driving experience. The asymmetric tread pattern and the close road contact reduce road and tread noise levels heard in the vehicle's cabin. This tread can negate the sound waves generated during the performance. This boosts the passengers' driving enjoyment, which offers an enjoyable performance.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
