Frequently Asked Questions

Does Sezzle check credit?

Yes, but only a soft credit check applies to standard Pay in 2 and Pay in 4 plans. This soft credit check doesn't affect your score. Longer-term financing may involve a hard inquiry instead. Sezzle offers a Sezzle Up opt-in program that reports your payment history to all three credit bureaus.

Does Sezzle report to credit bureaus?

If you enable Sezzle Up, your payment history is reported. Otherwise, Sezzle activity reaches the bureaus only if an unpaid balance is charged off and sent to collections, which can then appear as a negative mark.

Can you pay off Sezzle early?

Yes, you can pay off Sezzle early. It doesn't charge prepayment penalties. You can pay off your balance at any time without extra fees. You can do this directly in the Sezzle app by selecting the order and choosing to pay off the remaining balance.

How to get approved for Sezzle?

To qualify for a standard Sezzle Pay in 4 or Pay in 2 plan, you need to be at least 18 years old, live in the U.S. or Canada, provide a credit card or linked bank account, have a mobile number that can receive texts, and verify your email.

What happens if you don't pay Sezzle?

If you don't make a payment to Sezzle, you'll have a brief grace period before a late fee is applied. Sezzle will attempt to charge your linked card again and may restrict your ability to make new purchases. Continued non-payment could result in the debt being charged off and sent to collections, which can negatively impact your credit score.

Can you pay Sezzle with a credit card?

Yes, Sezzle accepts credit cards for both down payments and ongoing installments, as well as debit cards and bank accounts. However, Capital One credit cards and American Express are not accepted, and some credit card issuers might categorize buy now, pay later payments.
