OVERVIEW
The Pirelli P Zero Run Flat is a summer high performance tire manufactured for passenger vehicles.
This model is equipped with run flat technology. The tire's reinforced sidewalls are able to supports the weight of the vehicle and passengers temporarily which offers restricted mobility. In other words, after the loss of air pressure the tires can carry the vehicle for 50 miles up to a speed of 50 mph. This allows the driver to get to a safe destination so they will not be stranded on the side of the road. The vehicle needs to be equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system, or TPMS, for it to realize that the air pressure is gone from the tire. Otherwise, the driver might surpass the 50-mile limit.
Although the tire is not suited for winter driving, it has excellent dry and wet weather traction. The three circumferential grooves in the tread pattern help channel water from beneath the tire's tread and effectively resist hydroplaning situations. This way, the tire becomes safer to use in rainy weather.
The P Zero Run Flat's silica and carbon black tire compound provides superb performance throughout the tire's life. The special compound along with the S-shaped lateral grooves in the tread pattern optimizes the pressure distribution along the tire's footprint, offering a shorter braking distance. The specific asymmetric tread pattern and the equally distributed tire pressure mean even wear on the tire, which extends its life.
