OVERVIEW
The Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is a performance and high performance, summer tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs. The tire was developed using data from Michelin's Le Mans 24-Hour Race victories.
This tire offers excellent summer weather traction and it grips the road well in dry and wet conditions. This is due to the extra biting edges that enhance its traction. The wet traction is also enhanced by the tread design. The same design, with its circumferential grooves, helps to resist hydroplaning by eliminating water from under its footprint. With the increased traction the tire becomes safer to use in summer weather conditions, but it is not recommended for use in winter.
Michelin's Green X Technology with the Green Power tire compound lowers the rolling resistance. The reduced rolling resistance allows the vehicle to use less energy to stay in motion. In other words, it lessens the fuel consumption and with it the CO2 emissions. The low rolling resistance also slows down the wear rate of the tire's tread. The tire becomes environmentally friendly and cost efficient in the process.
The special tread compound and the tread design boost the tire's braking capacity. The tire stops shorter, enhancing its safety in summer weather. The tread design also improves the tire's steering precision and handling. This model is easily controllable and it enhances the tire's steering precision. The better steering response and braking ability make the tire safer to use.
The Pilot Sport 3's twin steel belt reinforced sidewall offers greater durability and high speed stability. It stabilizes the tire, preventing deformity, which makes it safer to use at such speeds. Michelin used digital technology to enhance the driving comfort of the tire, increasing the ride quality.
