OVERVIEW

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT is a high performance summer run flat tire manufactured for passenger vehicles.

The tire is a run flat model. It was made with Goodyear's Extended Mobility Technology which reinforces the tire's structure to allow it to be driven on after air pressure loss. When air pressure leaves the tire due to a puncture or other damage, the tire can be driven on for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph. This allows the driver to arrive safely at a nearby location, instead of being stranded on the side of the road. Run flat tires are usually manufactured for vehicle's without space for spare tires. These tires cannot be used together with regular tires as they have a heavier construction.

The tread design and performance compound work together to boost the tire's excellent summer weather performance. They firmly grip the road surface in dry and wet weather, while the compound promotes first-rate hot weather traction. The compound also avoids heat build-up. The tread features wide circumferential and angled lateral grooves that disperse water from the footprint to avoid hydroplaning. This model, however, is not suited to be used in winter conditions.

The tread's constant road contact enhances the controllability. The directional tread's solid center rib closely follows the road contact and improves the steering responsiveness and driving stability. The tread's better road contact boosts the steering response time and accuracy and it stabilizes the structure against the driving pressure affecting the model. The shoulder blocks increase the cornering ability and power with additional biting edges. The directional tread and performance compound's prevention of heat build-up improves the tire's high speed performing capability in all summer weather.
