The better road grip and the extra biting edges on the tire's shoulder help shorten its braking distance. All of these factors contribute to its enhanced safety.

This increases the tire's tread life, as it identifies when the vehicle's alignment may be off. The VIA symbols on the inside and outside shoulder of the tires change as the tread wears out, so by comparing them the driver is able to determine if the wheels are correctly aligned.

The center continuous rib in the tread pattern has the words "Replacement Tire Monitor" on it which appear three times. Before the tire reaches the minimum tread depth indicated by the Tread Wear Indicator bars, the inscription changes to "Replace Tire". This helps identify when the tires need to be replaced.
