OVERVIEW
The General Evertrek RTX is a touring all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles. General offers a 75,000 mile treadwear warranty with this tire model.
The model offers superb all weather traction. The special tread pattern and the silica-based tire compound work together to increase the dry, wet and winter weather road gripping ability. The silica in the tire compound ensures the tire's flexibility and gripping ability in wet and winter conditions, while the tread design keeps the tire close to the road surface at all times. The model also prevents hydroplaning as its tread design actively channels water and slush away from the tire's footprint. The constant road contact and hydroplaning resistance boost the year round driving safety.
The specially optimized footprint and tread area enhance the tire's controllability. The tread maintains the tire's road contact at all times which improves the steering responsiveness and driving stability. The constant contact with the road surface improves the steering response time and accuracy to the driver's instructions and it stabilizes the tire's structure against the driving pressure. The shoulder tread blocks manage to upgrade the cornering capability by heightening the number of biting edges that grip the road surface. The silica-based tire compound also enhances the braking ability. Its road grip enables the tire to significantly shorten its braking distance.
The tire guarantees a longer lasting tread life. The special silica compound manages to slow the tread wear rate down, while the tread design evenly distributes the driving pressure along the tread area to prevent irregular wear formations. This combination ensures a slower wearing even tread throughout the tire's lifetime. Furthermore, the tread area features the Visual Alignment Indicator and the Replacement Tire Monitor that enable the driver to easily follow the tire's tread wear rate and ensure a safer drive.
The Visual Alignment Indicator, or VAI for short, places different depth sipes on the tire's two opposing shoulders that wear with the tire. Their wear rate and manner indicate if the tires are wearing in an even manner. If the tread wear of the two shoulders is identical, everything is correct with the tire and it is wearing evenly. However, if the tread wear is different on the two opposing shoulders, the tire is wearing in an irregular manner and the vehicle's alignment needs to be corrected. In this manner, the driver can easily monitor the tread wear rate of the tires and prevent premature wear.
The special Replacement Tire Monitor notifies the driver when the tire is about to be completely worn and needs to be replaced. The words “Replacement Tire Monitor” are visible three times on the tread design's center rib. These letters change along with the tread wear and before the tire is about to be completely worn. Just before the tread reaches the Tread Wear Indicator bars, the words will spell out “Replace Tire”, which indicates that the tires are about to lose their remaining tread life and need to be changed.
The Evertrek RTX ensures a comfortable driving experience. The twin cushion silica tread compound softens the tire's contact with the road surface and absorbs the shock of driving while the tires are in motion. In this manner, the road vibrations do not reach the vehicle's cabin, guaranteeing a comfortable and enjoyable drive.
