OVERVIEW

The General Altimax UHP is a summer high performance tire manufactured for passenger vehicles.

The tire has excellent dry and wet traction and it grips the road well in those conditions, however this model is not suited for winter weather and should be stored in low temperatures. The wide circumferential center grooves and the V-shaped lateral grooves channel water from beneath the tire's footprint, resisting dangerous hydroplaning.

The tire's Visual Alignment Indicator, or VIA, has markings on the outside and inside shoulder of the tire. These markings change as the tire wears out and if the change on them is identical the tire wear is even. However, if the wear is not identical, it means the tire is not wearing evenly, something that may be caused by poor wheel alignment. The driver can keep track of this indicator for about the first 600 miles of the tire's life.

The Replacement Tire System, or RTM for short, notifies the driver when the tire needs to be changed. On the center rib of the tread pattern “Replacement Tire Monitor” is printed. When the tire reaches the minimum tread depth (indicated by the Tread Wear Indicator bars) this message changes to “Replace Tire”. The driver can easily identify when their tires need to be replaced.

The tire's high performance capability is further enhanced by its precise steering responsiveness. This boosts its handling and controllability, making the drive better and providing excellent road feel.

The tire maintains constant road contact due to the Reactive Contour Technology. This takes pressure off the tread, slowing down its wear rate and extending its life.

The Altimax UHP also offers a quiet drive; the pattern channels the soundwaves between the tread and helps reduce the road noise heard in the vehicle.
