OVERVIEW
The Cooper Discoverer A/TW is an all terrain, all season tire manufactured for SUVs and light trucks. Cooper offers a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty with this model.
The tire offers excellent all weather traction. The symmetric tread design and the all season tire compound work together to increase the dry, wet and winter weather traction. The tread also features Cooper's snow groove sipes that increase the ice and snow-covered road gripping ability, which earned the tire its three mountain peak and snowflake design. The wide zigzag circumferential grooves improve the hydroplaning resistance by dispersing water and slush from the footprint. The better hydroplaning resistance and excellent year round traction guarantee a safer driving experience.
The tread design features large staggered tread blocks, an open shoulder pattern and deep tread grooves that are capable of finding firm grip on soft, loose and uneven terrain surfaces. These tread elements work together to ensure first-rate off-road traction. They also manage to maintain a clean footprint as the zigzag groove pattern and the special asymmetric dual-draft groove angles eliminate mud and snow and eject rocks stuck between the tread elements. They increase the off-road traction and actively prevent stone retention from harming the tire's casing, which results in a secure on and off-road performance.
The tread design's dual tire bars that connect the individual tread elements, which stabilizes them against the driving pressure. These tie bars prevent tread flexing during the drive which improves the tread wear rate. The tread design with the stable tread elements manages to evenly distribute the driving pressure along the tread area. The equally spread out forces of acceleration, braking and cornering prevents irregular tread wear formations across the tread area, ensuring a longer lasting tread life and usability.
The stabilized tread elements increase the tire's road contact. The better road contact upgrades the model's steering responsiveness and driving stability both on- and off-road. In this manner, the steering becomes faster and more precise in its responsiveness to the driver's instructions and the tire's structure is stabilized against the driving pressure affecting it. This results in a secure performance and controllability that ensures a secure drive.
The Discoverer A/TW improves the comfort levels as well. The stabilized tread elements do not move about while the tires are in motion. The prevention of tread movement avoids the formation of road and tread pattern noise during the drive. As a result, the road noise does not reach the vehicle's cabin, promoting a quiet driving experience.
