It was manufactured with Continental's Self Supporting Run Flat technology or SSR. Its reinforced structure maintains the weight of the vehicle and the passengers after air pressure leaves the tire. This allows the tire to be driven on for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph, which enables the driver to safely arrive at a nearby location to fix or change the tire. These tires cannot be used on the same vehicle with non-run flat models.
