OVERVIEW

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 is a high performance all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles. Continental offers a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty with this model.

The tire offers excellent all weather traction thanks to the silica-based tire compound and the special tread pattern. The DWS in the title stands for Dry, Wet and Snow traction. The traction grooves promote winter weather road grip, while the X-sipes improve the tire's performance in demanding weather situations. The tread design grips the road well in all weather conditions, and the circumferential grooves prevent hydroplaning by eliminating water from below the tire footprint. This also improves the model's wet traction, making the tire extremely safe to use in all weather conditions.

The model was manufactured with the Sport Plus technology which improves the handling and the tread wear rate. The tire maintains constant road contact thanks to the special tread pattern. The increased contact between the tire and the road allow the tire to quickly and accurately respond to the driver's instructions in all weather conditions. This also provides good road feedback and it enables the driver to confidently control the tire in all weather.

The tread pattern lasts longer thanks to the Sport Plus technology. It equally distributes the driving pressure across the tread area. The better distribution of the forces of accelerating, cornering and braking prevents irregular wear on the model. This allows the tire to be used for a longer period of time, extending the tread life.

The tread pattern features alignment and performance indicators. The alignment indicators show if the tread wear on the tire is irregular due to bad alignment. The performance indicator is located on the second continuous rib from the outer shoulder. The letters “DWS” are located on that tread rib. When all three letters are visible the tire will perform well in dry, wet and winter weather conditions. As the tread wears out, the letters disappear. When the “S” wears out, the tire is not longer suited for snowy, winter conditions. The same goes for the “W” for wet weather conditions. The “D” lasts the longest, but then the tire is only suited for dry weather driving.

The ExtremeContact DWS 06's internal structure improves the high speed performing capability. The twin steel belt reinforced internal structure strengthens the tire and prevents deformation. The tire maintains its optimal tire shape under the high speed driving pressure, allowing it to perform to its best ability.
