OVERVIEW
The Continental CST 17 is a touring, all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and smaller SUVs. This is a temporary, compact spare tire which is made as an original equipment spare tire for select vehicles.
Temporary spare tires offer a limited mobility to the vehicle in case its original tire experiences air pressure loss. These tires are manufactured with a light weight construction and with a smaller physical size to optimize the vehicle's overall weight. These tires are easily stored on the vehicle up until they are used. Due to their smaller size and lightweight structure, these tires have limits. They must be kept at 60 psi and can only be driven on up to 50 mph in order to ensure a safe driving experience. In this manner, such tires guarantee excellent performing security throughout the model's performance.
The all season compound and ideal tread design increase the all weather performance. The narrow tread area and optimal all season compound optimize the tire's surface contact and grip in dry, wet and winter weather. The tread elements enhance the grip with extra biting edges, while the compound maintains the ideal rubber flexibility in versatile temperatures. The ideal groove placement helps prevent hydroplaning as they channel water and slush away from the footprint, maintaining the tire's surface contact and boosting the wet and slushy weather traction.
The CST 17 upgrades its controllability with the tread design's close road contact. The narrow tread area and the tire's smaller physical size must maintain the model's ideal surface contact throughout its performance, to boost the steering responsiveness and driving stability. The steering becomes faster and more precise in its response to the driver's commands, while the structure is stabilized against the driving pressure affecting the model. As a result, even when using a spare tire, the driver maintains its control over the vehicle throughout the drive, guaranteeing high driving safety levels.
