OVERVIEW
The Continental CrossContact AT is an all terrain, summer tire manufactured for SUVs and light trucks.
The tire offers excellent summer weather traction. Its silica-based tire compound and the optimal tread design improve the dry and wet weather traction. The silica compound enhances its traction on wet conditions and ensures first-rate dry performance. The tread elements also improve the road grip in such weather conditions. The wide zigzag circumferential and lateral grooves and the open shoulder design enhance water dispersing capability to effectively prevent hydroplaning. The better traction and hydroplaning resistance ensure a safer warm temperature performance. The model is not suited for winter weather, as the compound does not maintain its flexibility in colder temperatures.
The tread design enhances the off-road performance. The model's optimal tread pattern with the staggered tread blocks, wide grooves, open shoulder pattern and detailed siping design increase its off-road capability and allow it to conquer all soft, loose and uneven terrain conditions. The tread pattern also maintains a clean footprint. The large, staggered tread elements actively eliminate mud and eject rocks stuck between the tread elements. This keeps the footprint clean and prevents the tire from being blocked from its contact with the road and terrain surface and resists stone retention that may cause harm to the tire's casing.
The model is easily controlled both on- and off-road. The tread design upgrades its contact with the road and terrain surface with the wider shoulder tread blocks. They keep the tire's road contact at all times, which improves the steering responsiveness and accuracy and the driving stability. The optimal siping detail also manages to enhance the braking capability. The sipes create friction between the tire and the surface at the moment of braking, which manages to shorten the braking distance significantly, ensuring a safer performance.
The CrossContact AT promotes a quiet on-road drive. The tread design's optimal road contact and computer-designed tread pattern decrease the road noise levels heard in the vehicle's cabin. The tread pattern channels the airwaves through the tire's footprint without letting them come into contact with the tread elements. In this manner, the road noise is not generated while the tires are in motion, offering a quiet and enjoyable driving experience.
