OVERVIEW
The Continental 4X4 Contact SSR is a touring, all season tire manufactured for SUVs.
This model offers great all weather traction thanks to its silica-based tire compound. It grips the road well in all weather conditions, including dry, wet and winter conditions. The tread grooves prevent the tire from hydroplaning in deeper water by dispersing it from below the footprint. This makes the tire safer to use all year-round.
The Self-Supporting Run-flat technology reinforces the internal structure. In this manner, once air pressure leaves the tire, it can still be driven on for 50 miles up to 50 mph. As a result, the vehicle can securely arrive at a nearby location where the damaged tire can be fixed or changed. Run flat tires are made for vehicles without space for a spare tire. They should not be mounted on the same vehicle with regular tires.
The tire's longer tread life is due to the symmetric tread pattern which increases the tire's directional stability. The improved stability equally distributes the driving force and pressure along the tire's road contact area, preventing irregular wear on the tires. As a result, it wears out evenly, extending its tread life. The model's symmetric tread pattern also manages to reduce its rolling resistance.
