OVERVIEW
The Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 is a touring, winter tire manufactured for passenger vehicles.
The tire has excellent winter weather traction and it grips the ice and snow covered roads well. It was manufactured using the Multi-Cell tire compound that cuts through thin layers of surface water to increase the ice and snow traction. The zig zag siping design and the 3D sipes improve the road grip in colder weather. The tire is marked with the three mountain peak and snowflake symbol as it is capable of handling the most severe winter conditions. The tread design's circumferential center groove improves the hydroplaning resistance by channeling water and slush from below the tire footprint.
The winter weather performance is enhanced as well. The tire is capable of performing exceptionally well in winter weather thanks to its internal structure. The structure features spiral nylon wrap that encircles the whole tire. This, along with the O-Bead structure, maintains the tire's optimal shape under the driving pressure. The O-bead structure is a single continuous cable in the bead of the tire that improves its uniformity. The better uniformity reduces the road vibrations felt in the cabin of the vehicle. This makes the driving experience more enjoyable and comfortable.
The model uses L. L. Carbon in its tread area. This special carbon creates an interconnecting link on a molecular level that strengthens the tread area. This slows down the tread wear rate, prevents damages, and extends the tread life. The tread is wear resistant and it takes a longer time for it wear out. The tire prevents accidental and weather damage, such as chipping, cracking or tearing. The Long Link Carbon distributes the driving pressure across the tread area equally which prevents irregular wear across the tread area. These factors working together make the tire usable for a longer period of time as the tread lasts longer.
The Blizzak WS60 features tread wear indicators. These show when the tire is about to lose its superb winter weather traction. The Multi-cell compound is present on 60% of the tire's tread and the tread wear indicators notify the driver when only 10% of the compound is remaining. After that compound wears out, the tire tread is made out of regular winter weather compound which has slightly less grip.
