OVERVIEW
The Blackhawk BDL71 is a highway terrain, all season tire created for commercial vehicles. This model is made for the drive axle of the vehicle.
It comes with a tread design that features a wide, flat footprint with the three center ribs and the two shoulder ribs on the side. The tread with the closed shoulder not only enhances stability but also reduces rolling resistance, greatly increasing the tire's fuel efficiency. Its whole structure is designed to maintain the ideal shape of the tire, resisting deformations that would spoil its rolling resistance.
This model comes with a tread pattern that is full of small details in order to enhance its all season traction. Even the shoulder ribs have their own biting edges on both sides that help with grip. The tread blocks are also slightly rotated with rounded edges and slight indents. Each tread block has a lateral zigzag groove in the middle that enhances grip. The two zigzag grooves and the other two straight ones do an outstanding job channeling water and snow away from the tread footprint.
The tire boasts extended tread life thanks to its wide and flat tread footprint. It completely evens out tread wear by distributing the driving pressure across the tread. This is mainly thanks to the closed shoulder design that makes the tread pattern as wide as it is. The result is slow and uniform wear, while irregular wear is completely prevented thanks to the tire's stability. This guarantees a long tread life for the BDL71, without sacrificing all its beneficial qualities.
There might be discrepancies of sizes between brands and models of tires which have this size formatting. As the manufacturers only provide the tire width and the rim diameter with these tires, various brands and models will have size differences. In order to ensure the correct size is purchased, the overall tire diameter that is needed should be checked.
The Overall Diameter or O.D. advertised represents the tire's overall diameter in inches, once the tire has been properly inflated and mounted per the manufacturer's recommendation. This advertised number is provided to Priority Tire by the tire manufacturer.
Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
