All season high speed tires combine all weather driving safety with the excitement of high speed driving. They ensure the vehicle’s safer high speed performance in all weather, along with providing a secure controllability.
The General G-MAX AS-05 is one such tire. We at Priority Tire are proud to offer this excellent tire in our lineup. This tire ensures great all weather traction, a secure high speed performance, superb controllability, and even a longer lasting tread life. General offers a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty with this model.
All weather tires offer excellent weather versatility and secured driving safety throughout the year. Their tread design and compound are combined to increase the year round road grip and performance. They are the most popular models on the tire market, as their weather durability makes them suitable for all weather.
The G-MAX AS-05 was designed with General’s SmartGrip technology, which stabilizes the tread elements to increase their road contact and gripping capability. The all season tire compound and the model’s detailed asymmetric tread pattern improve the tire’s durability in different temperatures. The compound maintains the tire’s flexible traction and keeps the tire pliable both in the summer heat and winter’s colder temperatures. This prevents heat build-up in hot weather, while also keeping the tire flexible for colder temperatures. The asymmetric pattern features a high-density notch placement along with an optimized siping pattern that upgrades the tire’s grip on the road surface. They provide additional biting edges to ensure a secure performing capability, even at high speeds, in all conditions.
The model also successfully avoids hydroplaning. Its tread pattern features wide circumferential grooves and an open shoulder pattern that channels water and slush away from the tire’s footprint. In this manner, the water and slush stuck on the road cannot cut off the tire’s contact with the surface. As a result, the tire maintains its road surface contact, keeping the driver’s control over the vehicle and enhancing the dry and wet weather performance.
High performance tires need to have excellent durability and controllability to ensure a first-rate driving safety throughout their performance. Their structure must withstand the high speed driving pressure without the deformation of the optimal tire shape, while their tread needs to offer a secure control over the vehicle.
The G-MAX AS-05 was designed with an asymmetric tread pattern which maintains the tire’s road contact at all times. The tread features a continuous, notched center rib and large, stabilized shoulder blocks that closely follow the road surface. The better contact between the tire and the road improves the steering responsiveness and the driving stability. This results in the model’s faster and more accurate response to the driver’s commands, while it secures the structure during the high speed performance against the driving pressure affecting it. The stronger shoulder blocks also improve the tire’s cornering capability with the heightened number of biting edges they offer.
The model’s high speed performance and driving safety are ensured. The casing features strengthened steel belt and polyamide reinforcement to maintain the ideal tire shape during the tire’s high speed drive. They secure the construction and prevent the shape’s deformation under the high speed driving pressure affecting the model to enable its greatest high speed performing capability in various conditions.
The tread pattern features special Visual Alignment Indicators, or VAI for short, that showcase the tread wear rate and manner of the tire. These indicators are located on the tire’s shoulders, parallel to each other. They wear out with the tire’s tread and, by doing so, they visually represent the tread wear. In other words, they show if the tire is wearing in an even or uneven fashion.
If the two parallel alignment indicators are wearing identically, then the tread wear is even along the tire, from shoulder to shoulder. This means that the vehicle’s alignment is correct. However, if their wear is different or if one indicator wears more excessively than the other, the vehicle’s alignment might be off. In these cases it is recommended to check and correct the vehicle’s alignment before the tires develop an uneven tread wear rate and shorten the tire’s usability.
General’s Replacement Tire Monitor, or RTM for short, is a design feature that visually represents when the tires need to be changed due to them wearing out. This design places the words “Replacement Tire Monitor” three times onto the tire’s center rib. These words wear out with the rest of the tread. The way the Replacement Tire Monitor works is by wearing away these letters until only “Replace Tire” is visible. When this happens, it means that the tire is worn out and it no longer has the needed traction to perform in different weather. At this time the tire must be replaced.
A longer-lasting tread life is always a desirable feature a tire can have. General offers a 50,000 mile treadwear warranty with the G-MAX AS-05, which is achieved by the special StabiliTread technology.
The StabiliTread technology offers a flat and enlarged tire footprint which eases the driving pressure off the tire by ensuring its optimal road contact. The constant road contact allows the tread elements to evenly distribute the driving pressure along the entire tread area. The equally distributed forces of acceleration, cornering, and braking stabilize the tread elements and prevent tread flexing. This successfully avoids irregular wear formations, extending the tire’s usability and tread life.
