What You Need to Know Before Buying Light Truck Tires

• Light trucks need reinforced tires that can withstand the pressure placed on them in such applications. This is why LT or light truck tires were introduced on the market. They are larger and more durable tire models that can handle what light trucks throw at them.
• Choose suitable tires for the weather conditions they will be used. Tire brands make them in summer, all season, all weather, and winter variations - basically, you can find an LT tire for any climate.
• Apart from weather conditions, LT tires are also manufactured for different terrain applications. On-road tires are in the highway category, while off-road tires are designed for rugged, extreme, mud, and all terrain use.
• Depending on the terrain applications of the light truck tires, they will feature either symmetric, ribbed tread patterns or aggressive ones. The larger the tread elements are on the footprint, the better off-road traction they provide.
• Due to the stress placed on them, light truck tires experience shortened lifespans. While some tire brands still offer mileage warranties with these tires, that is typically not the case. Still, their self-cleaning tread patterns and wear-resistant compounds help combat uneven wear and tread damage.
• LT tires shine when they are utilized for heavy-duty use. They feature strengthened internal structures and stiffer sidewalls that prevent the tire from deforming under larger loads and driving pressure.
• Light truck tires are often put to work carrying heavy loads or towing other vehicles (trailers, RVs, etc.), both on- and off-road.

How to Choose the Right Light Truck Tires:

• Light truck tires are designed to be mounted on light trucks, as their name suggests. These tires offer load durability, handling, and traction in various weather and terrain conditions.
• Light trucks put a lot of stress on their tires, which leads to them needing stronger tires. Tire brands manufacture LT tires to be more durable and reliable, without sacrificing traction and handling.
• Tire size is not interchangeable. Choose the correct tire size by checking the vehicle’s owner’s manual, the door jamb sticker, or the currently mounted tires’ sidewall.
• Find suitable weather tires by assessing the driving conditions. LT tires are available in all weather combinations, so choosing the correct one only depends on the climate.
• Tire quality is all over the place. Researching the tires you are interested in is a good way to eliminate bad-quality tires from your wishlist. Customer reviews are a great starting point.
• Determine which LT tire type you need. Highway tires will perform differently than off-road tires (no matter if they are all terrain, mud, rugged, or extreme tires) as their tread patterns greatly vary.
• As light truck tires tend to be more expensive, it is important to set a realistic budget. A budget will help narrow the tire selection, leaving you with tires that will work for your light truck and your wallet.
• Professional installations and proper tire maintenance help lengthen the tire’s lifespan. Regular air pressure checks, tire rotations, and balancing prevent irregular and accelerated treadwear formations.

Get ready for the journey with durable LT tires. Enjoy the thrill of off-roading, tackle heavy-duty tasks with ease, or do both - light truck tires will have your back no matter the occasion.
