OVERVIEW
The Yokohama S.drive is a performance and high performance, summer tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs.
The tire promotes excellent summer weather traction, thanks to the silica-based micro-flexible tire compound. It grips the road well in dry and wet weather. The tire compound adjusts to the differing road conditions in summer, but it is not meant to be used in winter weather, as the compound will not be able to maintain its strong gripping ability in colder temperatures. The four wide circumferential grooves prevent hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from below the tire footprint. This boosts the driving safety and the wet weather traction as well.
The model is easy to control in all summer conditions. The silica-based tire compound boosts the steering responsiveness and driving stability greatly. The constant road contact stabilizes the tire against the driving pressure affecting it, while the steering responsiveness becomes quicker and more precise. The accurate and swift reply to the driver's instructions allows the tire to safely maneuver in dry and wet weather.
The tread pattern's solid center rib maintains constant road contact. This lowers the road noise heard while the tires are in motion. The contact between the tire and the road prevents the pattern noise from forming and this lowers the road noise heard in the vehicle's cabin. The lower road noise levels heard by the passengers offer a quiet and comfortable driving experience.
The model offers a long lasting tread life. The groove-in-groove design and the solid center rib equally spread the driving pressure out across the tread area. This even distribution of the forces of acceleration, cornering and braking prevents the pressure from being focused on one part of the tread, which avoids irregular tread wear patterns forming along the tread. In this manner, the tread life is extended as the tread wear is constantly even.
The S.drive's internal structure features a double jointless belt cover that provides the tire's optimal tire shape. It does not let the tire deform under the high speed driving pressure. This enhances the high speed performing ability, as the model becomes resistant to the driving forces affecting it, and it strengthens the tread rigidity, for a slower tread wear rate. The combination ensures a comfortable and safe drive throughout the tire's life.
