OVERVIEW
The Yokohama iceGUARD iG20 is a touring, winter tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs.
The tire is marked with the three mountain peak and snowflake symbol which notes tires that are capable of handling the harshest winter conditions. The tread design with the 3D zigzag sipes and the micro-diagonal grooves enhance the winter weather traction by providing good grip on ice- and snow-covered roads. The micro-grooves also extract the road moisture, which is usually present in such low temperatures. The four wide circumferential grooves prevent dangerous hydroplaning situations by eliminating water and slush from beneath the footprint.
The model offers further safety in winter weather with its upgraded braking and cornering ability. The high density zigzag 3D sipes provide additional biting edges for such situations. The braking distance is shortened as the better road contact area creates more stopping pressure in winter conditions. The cornering ability and power are improved with the extra biting edges and the shoulder tread block design that grips the road well during such maneuvers. The tire is safer to use in winter and it performs better in snow and on ice.
A longer lasting tread life is guaranteed with this tire model. The groove-in-groove design of the tread distributes the heat and force of accelerating, braking and cornering equally across the tread area. The equal distribution of these driving pressures prevents irregular wear on the tire. As the tire does not wear unevenly, it is usable for a longer period of time, extending its tread life.
The iceGUARD iG20 offers a comfortable driving experience. Its reinforced internal structure features twin steel belts on a polyester cord, which upgrades the durability, stability and comfort levels. The tire absorbs the shock of driving and follows the road surface closely, allowing it to lower the road vibrations felt in the cabin of the vehicle, providing an enjoyable drive.
