OVERVIEW
The Goodyear Marathon is an all season tire made for special purpose trailers. This model is not meant to be used on passenger, SUV or light truck vehicles, only on trailers.
The tire is an excellent trailer model, as it is easily pulled and controlled by the towing vehicle. This is made possible with the extra twin steel belt reinforcement of the internal structure. The reinforced structure stiffens the tire and its sidewalls, which allow it to be towed. In this manner, the tire becomes responsive to the instructions given by the towing vehicle in all conditions.
While trailer tires do not need traction as good as the towing vehicle's, this tire has great all weather traction thanks to the tread design's continuous solid center rib, which constantly keeps its road contact. The internal structure stabilizes the tread area as well, which improves the road gripping ability in dry, wet and winter weather. The better traction and special tread pattern increase the hydroplaning resistance by eliminating water from below the tire footprint. The traction and excellent water dispersing ability makes the tire safe to use in all conditions.
The maintained road contact also enhances the tire's driving stability and the length of the tread life. The directional stability is provided by the combination of the internal twin steel belt structure and the continuous contact with the road. As the tire closely follows the road surface the external driving forces are not able to affect it in such a high degree, which stabilizes the tire for towing. The tread life is increased with the evenly spread out forces of acceleration, braking and cornering and the stabilized tread area. The tread blocks do not shift about and the tread prevents irregular wear, making the tire usable for a longer period of time.
The Marathon's rounder profile shape and polyester cord body cushion the tire's drive and reduce the road vibrations affecting it. As the tire closely follows the road surface, which reduces the possibility of vibrations, while the remaining ones are absorbed by the polyester carcass, making the drive smoother.
