Their wear rate and manner indicate if the tires are wearing in an even manner. If the tread wear of the two shoulders is identical, everything is correct with the tire and it is wearing evenly. However, if the tread wear is different on the two opposing shoulders, the tire is wearing in an irregular manner and the vehicle's alignment needs to be corrected. The words "Replacement Tire Monitor" are visible three times on the tread design's center rib. These letters change along with the tread wear and before the tire is about to be completely worn. Just before the tread reaches the Tread Wear Indicator bars, the words will spell out "Replace Tire", which indicates that the tires are about to lose their remaining tread life and need to be changed.
