OVERVIEW

The Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ is a mud terrain all season tire manufactured for light trucks.

The tire provides remarkable all weather traction and it grips the road well in dry, wet and winter weather. This is thanks to the silica-based tire compound and the aggressive tread pattern. The excellent traction is further enhanced as the tire maintains its constant road grip and road contact with its self-cleaning nature. The tire cleans out mud, water and snow from between the tread elements while it is in motion, improving the all weather road grip and actively resisting hydroplaning as a result.

The model offers great traction on off-road surfaces. The tire has good traction on all soft and loose surfaces, and it performs especially well in muddy conditions. The four-pitched sidebiters on the sidewalls of the tire enable the tire to dip itself out of and have excellent traction in deep mud and sand. The self-cleaning tread design prevents mud from packing into the tread grooves and blocking the tire from its contact with the road, which improves its off-road performing capability. While the tire is designed for off-road performance, it will still perform well during on-road driving.

The tread pattern and the silica-based compound increase the Baja MTZ's resistance against damages. The tread features stone ejector ribs and variable draft angles that get rid of rocks stuck between the tread elements. This prevents stone retention and stone drilling that can harm and damage the tread area of the tire. The special silica compound also prevents cuts and chipping on the tread area and it help lengthen the tread life. The silica in the compound lowers the rolling resistance, which slows down the tread wear rate. The tread pattern distributes the driving pressure evenly across the tread area, which avoids irregular wear on the tread. As the even tread lasts longer it allows the tire to be used for a longer period of time.
