OVERVIEW
The Michelin Pilot Super Sport Acoustic is a high performance, summer tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs.
The tire was manufactured using Michelin's experiences gathered during their motorsport races. The technologies used in the manufacture of the tire increase the tire's high speed performing capability. The Total Performance technology ensures high speed driving capability, while not sacrificing safety, durability and fuel efficiency in the process. As a result, the model is capable of performing to its utmost ability without issues and danger of defect.
A comfortable and quiet driving experience is guaranteed with the Acoustic Technology. This technology places a polyurethane foam solution on the inner lining of the tread area. This foam reduces the road and vehicle vibrations and with it the road noise heard in the vehicle's cabin. The noise resonance is muffled as a result, and even on changing road conditions the tire offers reduced road noise levels.
First-rate summer weather traction is provided by the special bi-compound tread compound and the asymmetric tread pattern. The special bi-compound provides wet and dry weather road gripping ability. The racing-inspired outer area features a unique dry compound that enhances dry road performing capability, while the inner area improves the wet weather traction. The tire is not suited for driving in winter weather. The circumferential tread grooves prevent hydroplaning by eliminating water from below the tire footprint, increasing the summer weather safety.
The Variable Contact Patch 2.0 offers a longer lasting tread life. This technology promotes even wear across the tread by preventing irregular wear patterns from forming. The optimized road contact area equally spreads the driving pressure and the forces of acceleration, cornering and braking across the tread area and avoid uneven wear. Further enhancing the tire's usability is the tire's resistance to punctures. The internal structure's Twaron belt package reinforces the sidewalls and prevents punctures and different kinds of damages. This promotes a longer lasting tire.
The Pilot Super Sport Acoustic provides a shorter braking distance. The bi-compound used in the tread area creates friction at the moment of braking, which shortens the braking distance. The model's lowered tire weight allows a constant road contact. The better road contact ensures a precise and quick steering responsiveness, allowing the driver to confidently control the vehicle in dry and wet conditions.
