The VIA technology places different depth lines on both shoulders of the tire and the driver can easily determine if the vehicle's alignment is correct or not as a result. If the lines on the two opposite shoulders wear in the same manner, then the alignment is good, but if the wear is not identical the alignment should be checked. The RTM places the words "Replacement Tire Monitor" on the tire's center rib. When the tire is close to wearing out, the words change to "Replace Tire" and it notifies the driver that the tire needs to be replaced.
