OVERVIEW

The Sumitomo Ice Edge is a touring, winter tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs.

The tire upgrades the harsher winter weather traction. It combines the winter compound and the detailed directional tread design to boost the winter weather grip on the ice- and snow-covered surfaces. The winter compound enhances rubber flexibility in freezing temperatures as it maintains the ideal rubber flexibility in versatile weather. The directional tread design with the optimized block placement and the high-density siping placement upgrades the number of biting edges gripping the road surface, even when driving on ice and snow surfaces. The tread's detailed circumferential and lateral grooves avoid hydroplaning, which further improves the wet and winter weather performing ability.

The tread design and stronger construction upgrades the controllability and the driving durability throughout the model's performance. The directional tread design optimizes the surface contact, which upgrades the steering responsiveness and the driving stability. In this manner, the steering becomes faster and more precise in its response to the driver's commands, while the structure is secured against the driving pressure affecting the model.
