OVERVIEW
The Michelin Latitude Sport 3 ZP is a performance and high performance, summer tire manufactured for passenger and SUVs.
The tire promotes exceptional summer weather traction. The model's dry and wet weather road gripping ability is boosted with the asymmetric tread design and special silica compound. The tread compound and design firmly grip the road surface and ensure excellent performance. The wide circumferential grooves actively channel water away from the tire's footprint. This improves the wet weather traction and avoids hydroplaning by maintaining constant road contact.
The model was made with Michelin's Zero Pressure (ZP) technology which enables its limited, temporary performance in case of air pressure loss. Once air pressure leaves the tire due to a puncture or other damage, the tire can still be driven on for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph. This enables the tire to securely perform after air pressure loss, preventing the vehicle from being stranded on the side of the road. Such tires cannot be mounted on the same vehicle with regular tires, due to their heavier internal structure.
The asymmetric tread design also manages to improve the controllability. The continuous ribs and the large tread blocks maintain constant road contact, upgrading the steering responsiveness, driving stability and cornering capability. The shoulder blocks enhance the steering response time and accuracy to the driver's instructions and they provide additional biting edges for a more secure cornering and maneuvering ability and power. The tread design's variable thickness siping detail enhances the braking capability. They create friction at the moment of braking, efficiently shortening the braking distance and promoting a safer driving experience.
The variable thickness siping detail also reduces the rolling resistance. The rolling resistance is the external power affecting the tires that determines how much energy the vehicle needs to maintain the tire's motion. The reduced rolling resistance manages to lower the vehicle's fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This guarantees excellent performance in all summer weather road conditions and makes the model more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.
The Latitude Sport 3 ZP has remarkable high speed durability. The tire's internal structure features reinforced twin steel belts and a 2-ply casing that work together to prevent the tire from deforming under the high speed driving pressure. The maintained optimal tire shape enables the tire to perform to its best capability with ease.
