OVERVIEW
The Michelin Defender LTX M/S is a highway terrain, all season tire manufactured for SUV and light truck vehicles. It has some touring, passenger vehicle sizes as well. Michelin offers a 70,000 mile treadwear warranty with H and T speed rated sizes and a 50,000 mile warranty with R speed rated ones.
The tire has first-rate all weather traction and thanks to the tire compound and special 3D active sipes it grips the road in dry, wet and winter weather conditions. The tread design's special circumferential and lateral grooves prevent hydroplaning in dangerous situations and increase the wet weather traction by eliminating water and slush from below the tire's footprint. This guarantees a safer driving experience by ensuring that the tire performs securely year round.
A longer lasting usability and tread life are guaranteed with the Evertread compound. This is a specially generated compound that is stronger and more advanced that strengthens the tread area. The increased tread durability and the Max Touch Construction's optimized tire footprint, evenly distribute the forces of acceleration, cornering and braking across the tread area, preventing irregular tread wear patterns from forming. The even distribution of the driving pressure also lowers the tire's rolling resistance, which in turn reduces the vehicle's fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. As a result, the tire is more fuel and cost efficient and environmentally conscious.
The model's computer tread block sequence, optimized by the ComfortControl Technology, helps reduce the road noise and vibrations in the vehicle's cabin. The optimized sequence cancels out the road and pattern noise that are generated when the tires are in motion. It also maintains constant road contact, which reduces the road vibrations felt by the passengers. The comfort levels of the Defender LTX M/S are further enhanced by the reinforced internal structure. The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts that upgrade its durability. As the tire does not deform under the driving pressure, it offers a safer and more comfortable driving experience.
