Once air pressure leaves the tire due to a puncture or some other damage, the tire can still be driven on for 50 miles up to 50 mph. This enables the tire to allow the tire to not be stranded on the side of the road. In such cases, the vehicle can safely arrive at a nearby location where the damaged tire will be fixed or changed. Run flat tires are made for vehicles without space for a spare tire. They should not be mounted on the same vehicle with regular tires, due to their heavier internal structure.
