OVERVIEW
The General Altimax Sport is a high performance summer tire manufactured for passenger tires.
This tire model has great dry and wet traction and it grips the road well in summer weather. The tire is not suited for winter weather conditions and it is not recommended for use in lower temperatures. The tire's excellent dry traction and its wide circumferential tread grooves enhance its anti-hydroplaning resistance as the tire disperses water from below its footprint. The model is safer to use.
The rigidity and the optimized high speed stability of the tire provide greater control over it. The steering responsiveness is quicker and more accurate, improving the handling of the model. The special tread design and the tire's better footprint offer better traction. This shortens the braking distance of this model and it becomes more dependable.
Constant even wear is guaranteed thanks to the Visual Alignment Indicator, shorter VIA, Technology which notifies the driver when the tire wear is irregular during the first 600 miles of the tire's life. The tire's tread life is increased by this, as it identifies when the vehicle's alignment may be off. The VIA symbol is located on the inside and outside shoulder of the tires. These symbols change with time as the tire wears out. If the driver compares them they are able to determine if the wheels are correctly aligned or not. If the symbols are identical the alignment is good, if they are not identical there is an issue.
The Replacement Tire Monitor, or RTM for short, tells the driver ahead of time when the tire needs to be replaced. The tread pattern's continuous center rib has the words “Replacement Tire Monitor” on it three times. When the tire is close to its end, before it reaches its minimum tread depth indicated by the Tire Wear Indicator bars, the words change to “Replace Tire”. This identifies when the tires need replacements, in other words when they are worn out.
The silica-enhanced tire compound reduces the tire's rolling resistance. The lowered rolling resistance makes the Altimax Sport more fuel efficient, as it lessens the vehicle's fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The decreased rolling resistance also slows the tread's wear rate, extending its life. This makes the tire environmentally and economically friendly.
