OVERVIEW
The General Altimax RT43 is a touring all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles. General offers a 75,000 mile treadwear warranty for the T speed rated models and a 65,000 mile warranty for the H and V speed rated ones.
The tire offers first-rate all weather traction and road gripping ability. The symmetric tread pattern and the Twin Cushion Silica Compound promote dry, wet and winter weather road gripping ability. The Peak Anti-Slip Tread design ensure a safer driving experience on snow and ice-covered surfaces by increasing the biting edges the tread design provides. The special circumferential grooves increase the water and slush dispersing ability and actively prevent hydroplaning, making the driving experience safer.
The internal structure and the tread design promote a comfortable and quiet driving experience. The Twin Cushion Silica Compound and the polyester body cord absorb the shock of driving and with it decrease the road vibrations felt in the vehicle's cabin. The tread pattern design's continuous center rib and the independent tread blocks use the Sound Wave Suppression Technology to lower the road noise heard while the tires are in motion. This negates the road noise generated during the drive, which enhances the driving comfort levels, making the drive more enjoyable.
The model's internal structure sports twin steel belts, which, along with the tread design, enhance the driving stability and the steering responsiveness. The tread's continuous center rib and the independent tread blocks ensure a safer driving experience as they maintain constant road contact. The increased road contact provides a quick and precise steering responsiveness to the driver's commands and it stabilizes the tire against the driving forces affecting it. The internal structure does not let the tire deform under the driving pressure, which improves the tire's road contact and, with it, offers an easily handled model.
The Lower Surface Abrasion Technology lengthens the tread life and tire usability. It decreases the tread distortion by stabilizing the tread elements while the tire is in motion. The stabilized tread elements do not shift around during the drive, which eases the driving pressure off the tire. The forces of acceleration, cornering and braking aren't just focused on one area of the tread, thanks to the symmetric design, which decreases the possibility of irregular wear forming. The longer lasting, even tread wear increases the tire's usability.
The Altimax RT43 sport a Replacement Tire Monitor and Visual Alignment Indicators. The tread's center rib has the words “Replacement Tire Monitor” on it multiple times. With the tread wear the words wear out and, when just “Replace Tire” is visible on the tread, the tire needs to be replaced as it no longer has good road gripping ability. The Visual Alignment Indicators are placed on either side of the tire's shoulders. They also wear with the tread and indicate whether the vehicle's alignment is good or not. If the two parallel indicators wear in the same manner, the alignment is good. However, if they are not identical, it means that the alignment is off and the tire is wearing in an irregular manner. This allows the driver to recognize irregular wear across the tread area, which prevents uneven wear patterns from forming across the tread surface.
