OVERVIEW
The Firestone Affinity Touring is a touring all season tire made for passenger vehicles. Firestone offers a 70,000 mile tread wear warranty with this model.
The tire provides excellent all weather road gripping ability with the silica-based tire compound and the tread pattern's open-slotted shoulder design and diagonal and lateral siping detail. The silica enhances the wet weather road gripping ability, while the siping design boost the tire's road gripping ability on snow and ice-covered roads. The all weather safety is further increased with the tire's water dispersing ability that actively avoids hydroplaning.
The silica tire compound improves the model's road gripping ability which lowers the rolling resistance. The rolling resistance is the force that determines how much energy the vehicle needs to maintain the tire's motion, in other words how much driving pressure the tire faces during the driving experience. The decreased rolling resistance reduces the vehicle's fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, making the drive more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly.
The tire offers a quiet and comfortable drive with the lowered road noise and road vibrations. The optimized tread pattern channels the soundwaves through the tire footprint without letting them come into contact with the tread elements. This prevents road noise from being created while the tire is in motion. The O-Bead structure, a single continuous cable in the bead of the tire, and the polyester cord body plies maintain the tire's optimal shape and allow it to closely follow the road surface. The result is the lowered levels of road vibrations felt in the vehicle's cabin, making the driving experience more enjoyable.
The Affinity Touring was manufactured with the L. L. Carbon compound as well. This creates a long link throughout the tire on a molecular level that strengthens the tread area. In this manner, the tire becomes resistant to cracking and tearing and it slows the tread wear rate down. The driving pressure is also distributed evenly along the tread surface, avoiding irregular wear across the tread area. The internal structure's steel belt construction also protects the tire from accidental punctures, ensuring a longer lasting usability.
