OVERVIEW
The Continental ExtremeContact DWS Tuned is a high performance all season tire manufactured for performance SUV and light truck vehicles. Continental offers a 50,000 mile tread wear warranty with this tire model.
The tire has exceptional all weather traction. The DWS stands for dry, wet and snow traction as the tread design and the high grip silica compound grip the road well in such conditions. The independent tread grooves eliminate water and slush from below the tire footprint and improve the wet weather traction and hydroplaning resistance at the same time. This makes the tire safe to use year round.
The tire's handling is improved as well. The steering responsiveness, cornering ability and power are the result of the tread design's shoulder tread blocks and continuous rib that maintain constant road contact. The enhanced road contact makes the tire's response to the driver's instructions swift and accurate and it allows the driver to confidently steer the model in all weather. The shoulder tread blocks provide additional biting edges during cornering and maneuvering and boosts the stability and power.
The tread pattern was made with performance indicators. The letters “DWS” are visible one of the ribs on the tread area. If all three letters are visible the tire still has excellent performing capability in dry, wet and snowy weather conditions. When the tire starts to wear out the letters slowly disappear as well, first the “S” then the “W” until only the “D” remains. When only the last letter is visible, the tire no longer has good tread in wet and winter conditions, and using them then can be dangerous.
The ExtremeContact DWS Tuned's reinforced internal structure improves the high speed performing capability of the tire. The twin steel belt internal construction maintains the tire's shape under the driving pressure, which increases the high speed safety and performing ability.
