OVERVIEW
The Continental CrossContact LX Sport SSR is a touring, all season tire manufactured for crossover vehicles and SUVs.
The tire was designed with Continental's Self-Supporting Run flat system (SSR) which enables the tire's limited temporary performance after air pressure loss. When air pressure leaves the tire due to a puncture or other damage, the tire can still be driven on for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph. In this manner, the driver does not get stranded on the side of the road, but they can safely arrive at a near by location to change or fix the tire. Run flat tires are made for vehicles without space for a spare tire and they cannot be mixed with regular tires.
This all season model provides outstanding all weather traction, including in winter weather, which is possible thanks to the silica-infused tire compound. Its asymmetric tread pattern also improves its road grip and handling in these conditions. The tread design's wide circumferential grooves help channel the water from beneath the footprint of the tire, eliminating the risk of hydroplaning and making the driving experience safer.
The tire's unique asymmetric tread pattern, boosted traction and all weather road grip allow for a more precise steering response. The new silica tire compound, with the tread blocks on the tire's shoulders, improve and shorten the braking distance on both wet and dry road surfaces. This makes the tire's handling effortless and its use safer.
This model has a lowered rolling resistance, thanks to the special silica compound used to manufacture the tire. It offers enhanced mileage performance and lowers the vehicle's fuel consumption. The lowered fuel consumption makes the tire ecologically friendly as well, as it lessens the CO2 emissions of the vehicle.
Some of the sizes of the CrossContact LX Sport SSR tire model were manufactured with the ContiSilent technology. It allows for a quiet and comfortable drive, as the sound-absorbing foam lining the inside of the tire swallows the road noise emitted while driving.
