OVERVIEW

The Continental ContiSportContact 5P ContiSilent (R01) is a high performance, summer tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs. It is the original equipment tire of select Audi vehicle models.

This tire offers reduced rolling resistance. The tire is more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, as it lowers the fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions of the vehicle with the reduced rolling resistance. The decreased rolling resistance also eases the force and driving pressure off of the tire. This results in a slower wear rate on the tires, extending the tread's lifetime.

The tire's performing ability was heightened with the Black Chili tire compound used in the manufacture of the tire. The tread pattern and the tire compound increase the tire's cornering ability by providing additional biting edges. The braking distance was shortened as well, because the Black Chili compound and the tread pattern build up heat at the moment of braking. The increased cornering and maneuvering ability and power, combined with the shorter braking distance, offer a safer driving experience.

The special tread pattern and the tire compound also help enhance the tire's steering accuracy and responsiveness. The tire responds swiftly and precisely to the commands of the driver, making its controllability effortless. The better control over the tire also offers better road feedback, making the driver able to respond to changing road conditions quickly.

The ContiSportContact 5P ContiSilent (R01) has excellent summer weather traction, gripping the road well in dry and wet conditions. However, this tire will not perform well in winter, as the tire compound loses its traction in colder temperatures. The wide circumferential grooves in the tread pattern help avoid hydroplaning by channeling water from below the footprint of the tire.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
