OVERVIEW
The Continental ContiSportContact 5 ContiSilent is a high performance summer tire built for passenger vehicles.
This tire model has great summer weather traction, providing good road grip in dry and wet weather conditions. The tire, however, is not suited for winter driving conditions, as the tire compound loses its traction in the lower winter temperatures. The tire offers excellent resistance against hydroplaning, as the tread grooves eliminate water from below the footprint, offering a safer driving experience.
The special Black Chilli tire compound reduces the heat generated while the tire is in use, which lowers the rolling resistance. The lower resistance reduces the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the vehicle, making the tire more ecologically and economically efficient. The decreased rolling resistance also lessens the driving pressure affecting the tire. This slows the tread wear rate down, lengthening the tire's life.
The tire was manufactured with the ContiSilent Technology. This technology adds a polyurethane foam to the inside of the tire's tread, which absorbs all the road noise and sound waves that can be heard in the cabin of the vehicle while the tire is in motion. The result is a road noise free, comfortable and enjoyable drive.
The ContiSportContact 5 ContiSilent's controllability was also improved. The Black Chilli compound shortens its braking distance and enhances the cornering ability of the tire. At the moment of braking the Black Chilli compound builds up heat, resulting in extra road grip for a shortened braking distance. While cornering, the Black Chilli compound provides additional biting edges for extra traction. The cornering ability and power is boosted and maneuvering becomes safer.
This tire is also more easy to control. The center rib in the tread pattern maintains constant contact with the road, improving the steering response time and accuracy. The better steering responsiveness provides a safer diving experience as the driver is able to quickly and accurately respond to the road conditions.
