Larger vehicles need durable winter tires to perform safely in winter weather conditions. These tires need the same levels of performance in winter situations as they have in all weather conditions. Manufacturers strive to create durable winter tires for light trucks to ensure their secure driving experience.

Priority Tire offers a wide range of winter tires for sale. One of our best selling models for light trucks is Firestone’s Winterforce LT. This model promotes excellent winter traction, great controllability, a heightened load capacity and even a comfortable performance thanks to its state-of-the-art manufacture and design.

Winter Weather Performance

Winter tires come in all shapes and sizes as even larger vehicles need better traction in harsher conditions. Such tires use their tread design and winter compound to improve the winter weather traction.

The Winterforce LT’s directional ribbed tread design and durable winter compound increase the winter weather grip on the road surface. The compound maintains the rubber flexibility and keeps the tire pliable in cold temperatures. The tread design, with the high siping density, boosts the grip on the ice- and snow-covered road surface by heightening the number of biting edges gripping the road surface. The tread is further pinned for studs. #15 studs can be added to the tread area to further boost the ice and snow grip on the road surface.

Hydroplaning is another serious issue the tires need to face in winter conditions. The Winterforce LT utilizes its wide circumferential and angled lateral grooves to disperse water and slush from below the footprint. Hydroplaning happens when slush and water located on the road surface cut off the tire’s surface contact, which causes the vehicle to skid. In such cases, the driver loses control over the vehicle, which can easily lead to accidents. By eliminating water and slush from the footprint, the tire not only avoids hydroplaning, but it also increases the wet and winter weather traction and driving safety.

Handling and Controllability

Tires are the only link between the vehicle and the road surface, and as the vehicle’s only part which is in contact with the road surface, they determine the vehicle’s controllability. Their surface contact optimizes the driver’s control over the vehicle, during their performance, guaranteeing a safer driving experience.

The Winterforce LT’s symmetric directional pattern features a ribbed tread block placement. This tread design enables the tire’s close surface contact in various weather conditions. The constant road contact upgrades the controllability, by boosting the steering responsiveness and the driving stability. In other words, the steering becomes faster and more precise in its response to the driver’s commands, while the structural stability is ensured throughout the tire’s performance. The optimal shoulder tread block placement upgrades the cornering capability. These blocks create additional biting edges, which grip the road surface during maneuvering. The tread’s high-density siping detail increases the braking power. The sipes generate friction between the tire and the road surface at the moment of braking, significantly shortening the braking distance. As a result, the tire ensures the driver’s full control over the vehicle, even in severe winter weather.

The tire also enhances its load and driving durability. The internal structure sports a reinforced steel belt construction that maintains the ideal tire shape under the pressure affecting the model. This results in the tire’s increased load and driving strength, which prevents the tire from deforming under the pressure. The maintained ideal tire shape increases the load capacity. It allows the tire to carry and withstand heavy loads with ease, improving the overall driving safety levels.

High Driving Comfort Levels

Even winter tires can offer excellent driving comfort throughout their performance. These tires promote an enjoyable drive by minimizing the road vibrations felt in the vehicle’s cabin. Manufacturers use versatile manufacturing techniques to minimize the road disturbances felt by the passengers.

The Winterforce LT improves the comfort levels by lowering the road vibrations felt by the passengers while the tires are in motion. This is achieved with a stronger internal structure. The model’s polyester body casing and the reinforced steel belt structure work together to maintain the ideal tire shape under the load and driving pressure affecting the model. This combination allows the tire to closely follow the road surface during the drive. This minimizes the road vibrations felt by preventing road disturbances from ruining the passengers’ driving enjoyment.
