Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S Review

Agota Szabo - January 15, 2019

Regular touring tires are not capable of handling the harsh off-road terrain surface performance, which is why it is of the utmost importance that you purchase the correct set of tires. All terrain tires are made to provide you with safety, reliability and excellent performance both on- and off-road, which widens its versatile application.

Here at Priority Tire, we are proud to present you with the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S model. This model combines its durable internal structure with a stronger optimized tread design to ensure first-rate driving safety throughout the year on differing terrain surface conditions. The model’s excellent performance and controllability allow the driver to confidently control the vehicle on all terrain surface conditions.

The better controllability, all weather traction, off-road capability and excellent controllability work together to ensure the tire’s performance.

All Terrain Performance

All terrain tires have the advantage on off-road conditions, as their durable tire compound and enhanced structure withstand the driving pressure affecting the tire both on on- and off-road conditions. They are capable of safely performing on all terrain surface conditions.

The tread design enhances the model’s performing capability. The large staggered tread blocks, with the optimal siping detail, the zigzag grooves, the open shoulder pattern and the optimal sidewall pattern enhance the soft, loose and uneven terrain traction. The unique tread elements enhance the tire’s strong terrain gripping ability while the tires are in motion. This allows the tire to safely perform on all terrain surface conditions.

The Discoverer AT3 4S Secure Grip pattern features large tread elements that upgrade the surface grip, while the sidewall pattern promotes forward motion in deep mud and loose dirt. This combination prevents the tire from being stuck on such terrains, and it allows the tire’s forward motion on all terrain conditions. The special zigzag grooves and staggered tread blocks maintain a clean footprint by dispersing mud and snow and ejecting rocks stuck between the tread elements. This allows the tire to perform securely and to prevent stone retention from damaging the tire’s casing, ensuring a safer driving experience.

All Season Performance

The tread design and tire compound of the Discoverer AT3 4S offer excellent all weather traction. The tire’s great year round performance upgrades its dry, wet and winter weather road gripping capability. All season tires are greatly sought-after due to their capability of safely performing throughout the year.

The Discoverer AT3 4S features a special silica-enhanced tire compound and a symmetric tread design with a high-density siping detail. The silica-based compound maintains its flexible traction throughout the year and actively prevent weather damage from harming the tire’s casing and tread area. The special tread’s Micro-Gauge zigzag sipes heighten the number of biting edges and boost the tire’s gripping capability.

The tire is also capable of resisting hydroplaning, which causes the tire to lose its contact with the road surface and makes the driver lose control over the vehicle. The tread’s wide zigzag grooves actively resist hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from below the tire’s footprint. In this manner, the model ensures a safer and more precise controllability and performing capability.

Durability

All terrain tires must withstand a lot of pressure that affects them during its off-road performance. The harsh terrain conditions leave their strain on the tires. Due to this, these tires are manufactured with a stronger internal structure that is capable of handling the pressure affecting them.

The construction of the Discoverer AT3 4S features a polyester casing reinforced with a spirally wrapped nylon ply and two strengthened steel belts that enhance the durability greatly. This enhancement of the internal structure prevents the optimal tire shape from deforming under the driving pressure affecting the tire. As a result, the tire maintains its shape under the driving and load pressure affecting it, allowing it to carry and handle heavier loads with ease.

Furthermore, this tire model comes with a 65,000 mile treadwear warranty. The tread design and the durable tire compound work together to increase the tread wear length. The tread’s optimal element placement prevents uneven tread wear with the even pressure distribution, while the compound slows the tread wear rate down significantly, to lengthen the tire’s usability.

Controllability

Tires must have good steering response to the driver’s instructions and a stable structure in order to perform well. The Discoverer AT3 4S features a reinforced internal structure that maintains its optimal tire shape even under the driving pressure affecting it. The polyester casing and the strengthened steel belts prevent deformation and enable the tire to closely follow the road and terrain surface at all times.

As a result, the tire boosts the steering response and driving stability greatly. The steering becomes faster and more precise in its response to the driver’s commands and instructions, while the structure is secured against the driving and load pressure affecting the tire. In this manner, the tire is easily controlled on all terrain surface conditions.
