Carlisle Turf Saver II Review

Agota Szabo - October 2, 2019

This week we are taking a look at various garden equipment tires in our blog posts. Yesterday we talked about small sized bias ply tires and their tendency to deform when they are not inflated. Today, we will talk about one such tire.

The Carlisle Turf Saver II is made to be mounted on lawn mowers and other garden equipment vehicles. It has a bias ply construction which offers excellent durability, while the optimal tread design ensures great traction in various weather and on different terrain surface conditions. Furthermore, the tire is capable of performing without harming the turf.

Exceptional Traction

A tire’s traction determines its forward motion and grip on the road or terrain surface. Tires must have good traction for the surfaces they are intended to be driven on to perform in a desirable manner. Turf tires must conquer slippery and muddy terrains at tires. While there are different turf tires available for various turf terrains, they all have good traction.

The Turf Saver II was designed with rounded shoulders and arrow-head shaped blocks along the tread area. These work together to increase the tire’s grip on the turf surface, without damaging it. This softer traction enables the tire to securely perform on various turf surfaces with ease as it finds good grip throughout its lifetime.

The arrow-shaped, or chevron, tread blocks make the tire perfect to be used on ride-on tractors, mowers and carts.

Great Durability

Bias ply tires offer a stronger durability. These tires, as we have mentioned in previous blog posts before, place their plies diagonally at a 30 to 40 degree all over the tire’s constructions. This significantly increases the tire’s strength, promoting a safer driving experience.

The Turf Saver II is a small sized bias ply tire. This tire is able to withstand heavier weights than other radial garden equipment tires, thanks to its internal structure. The bias construction, when inflated properly, maintains the ideal tire shape under the load affecting the tire, providing a better overall controllability and performing capability.

The stronger bias ply structure also ensures the tire’s damage resistance. While such tires are not fuel efficient, their reinforcement actively resists punctures, cuts and other damage from harming the tire’s casing and shortening its service life.

Longer Tread Life

A longer tread life is a positive feature on all tire models. Different technologies are used to extend the tire’s usability and tread life, which ensures a slower and even tread wear rate along the tread area. The Turf Saver II combines its tread design and bias ply structure to increase its usability.

The bias ply structure reinforces the tire against the driving pressure affecting it. This enables the tire to stabilize the tread elements and actively prevent tread flexing. Tread flexing puts additional pressure on the tread elements, which causes their accelerated and sometimes uneven tread wear rate and manner. By preventing it, the tire significantly slows the tread wear rate down.

The tread design, with the small arrow-shaped blocks enables the tire to optimize its surface contact throughout its performance. This enables the tire to evenly distribute the driving pressure along the tread area. The equally spread out forces of acceleration, cornering and braking avoids irregular tread wear formations on the tire’s surface, which increases the usability and tread life.

Turf Tire

When it comes to garden equipment tires, they all must have one feature that they cannot compromise on: they must be able to perform without damaging the turf or grass field they are used on. These tires feature optimal tread design that ensure their softer traction, which is needed to guarantee the model’s safer performance.

The Turf Saver II offers a softer drive. Its tread design features small arrow-shaped blocks along its entire tread area, starting from the shoulders. These tread elements ensure the tire’s needed traction without allowing them to dig into the turf surface. As the tread elements do not damage the turf during their performance, they make the tire perfect to be used for lawn mowing and other activities that require the tire’s contact with the grass field.

The softer traction of such tires enables them to securely perform on various turf surface conditions, even allowing them to find good traction on muddy surfaces with ease.
