OVERVIEW

The Yokohama AVID Touring-S is touring, all season touring tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs. Yokohama offers a 65,000 mile warranty with this model.

This tire is an all season model, and it has excellent all weather traction. The combination of the tread pattern and tri-plex tread compound grips the road well in dry, wet and winter conditions. The tire also is resistant to dangerous hydroplaning situations as the tread pattern features tapered rain channels and cross traction sipes. The rain channels speed the water evacuation from below the footprint, while the traction sipes increase the wet and winter traction of the model.

The model offers a longer lasting tread life. It was manufactured using the tri-plex tread compound, which offers a slower wear rate on the tire. The optimized tire footprint also allows the tire to distribute the driving force equally across the tread area. This equal distribution allows the tire to prevent irregular wear across the tread area, and since the tire wears out evenly, it is usable for a longer period of time.

The tire's handling and steering responsiveness was improved as well. The Luxury sidewall construction uses a tapered hard rubber insert which increases the controllability of the tire. This does not allow the tire to deform and makes its handling effortless. The tire's steering responsiveness becomes quick and accurate and it responds quickly to the commands of the driver. The driver is able to confidently control the tire in different weather conditions.

The AVID Touring-S offers a quiet and comfortable driving experience. The tire's silent shoulder and twin rail stability rib decrease the road noise levels while the tires are in motion. The silent shoulder uses extra sipes and changing tread block sizes to keep the road noise down, while the twin rail stability rib lowers the pattern noise. The comfort levels of the tire were heightened with the reinforced internal structure, which feature twin steel belts, and with the sidewall inserts, which make the drive smoother.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
